Places to stay in Amsterdam

October is busy in Amsterdam — book early. Availability and prices change, so check current options before booking.

Modern towers of the Zuidas business district in south Amsterdam

Zuidas & RAI — closest to campus

Business-district hotels within walking or one tram stop of VU. Look around Amsterdam Zuid station and the RAI — e.g., Holiday Inn Amsterdam (next to campus), Motel One Amsterdam RAI, or citizenM Amsterdam South.

The busy Albert Cuyp street market in the De Pijp neighbourhood

De Pijp & Oud-Zuid — lively & nearby

Cafés, the Albert Cuyp market, and the museum quarter, with a direct tram or metro link to VU (15–20 minutes). A good balance of atmosphere and convenience.

A leafy canal lined with houseboats and canal houses in central Amsterdam

City centre — classic Amsterdam

Canals and nightlife, roughly 20–25 minutes to campus via metro 52. Budget options include hostels such as Stayokay; conference-goers on a budget can also look at hotels near Amstel station.
